The Frog Princess Punked

May 4 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

May 4 2017 New River Studios 8.00pm Tickets £5 on door.
This is a try-out performance where we will perform the whole thing for the first time. Come and support us. There will be some seating, but mostly standing – drink beer and dance to our story!

It’s gonna be angry. It’s gonna be loud!

What happens when Ivan is forced to marry a frog? Bad sounds! A wicked racket! Urban meets forest. Patriarchy meets feminism. Baba Yaga meets Koschey the Deathless!

Pioneering storyteller Sally Pomme Clayton and musicians Georgia Kalogeropoulou, Dawn Rose and Nina Polutimou embark on a provocative collaboration. They are The Swamp Girls – combining the noise of punk with a surreal narrative about the dangers of annexing the wild and the wisdom of liberating the female. Together they create a hybrid hullabaloo of spoken word, distorted guitars, scorching drums, dynamic performance storytelling, riotous songs, poetic riffs, set in a shifting collage of fragmented images and film.

The Swamp Girls are:
Sally Pomme Clayton – story
Georgia Kalogeropoulou – composition, guitar, saxophone, voice
Dawn Rose – arrangement, drums
Nina Politimou – bass guitar
Fotios Begklis – images, v-jaying

“Disgusting! Get out before the doors close!” The Guardian
